THIS MAN

If a man submits his mind to a religion, he will become it:  his religion will dwell in him and he will become a walking-talking textbook of his religion because his religion is his lord.
If this same man, however, receives Christ as his Savior, Christ will dwell in him and he will become a walking-talking textbook of Christ because Jesus is his Lord.
But if this man wants to receive Christ while wanting to keep his religion?  This will not work; for Jesus said,

"No man can serve two masters:  for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.  Ye cannot serve God and mammon."  (Matthew 6: 24)

What does the Bible, therefore, say to this man who wants Christ but also wants to keep his religion?

"And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."  (2nd Corinthians 6:  16-18)

Obviously, this man must come out of religion and stop dwelling with idols, leaving those things behind him.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:  old things pass away; behold, all things are become new."  (2nd Corinthians 5: 17)

Now that this man has accepted Christ as well as surrendered his religion and his idols, what should he do?
The Psalmist says it this way:

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth."  (Psalm 121: 1-2)

Above all else, this man should be thankful.

"Likewise I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth."  (Luke 15: 10)
