FALSE GODS EXPOSED

                            "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
                                                   (Exodus 20: 3)

   In the Bible, God exposes false gods and their names.

FALSE GODS OF THE OLD TESTAMENT:

AMON:  chief god of Egypt

ASHERAH:  a Canaanite goddess

ASHTORETH:  a consort of Baal

BAAL:  a Canaanite and Phoenician god

BAEL-ZEBUB:  god of the Philistines

BEL:  chief god of Babylon

CHEMOSH:  chief god of Moab

DAGON:  half-man, half-fish god in Babylon and Philista

MOLECH:  chief god of Ammon

TAMMUZ:  the son of god of Semiramis, mother-wife of Nimrod, at the
                    towel of Babel.  Semiramis was also known as the first
                    "mother of god" and "queen of heaven".

FALSE GODS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT:

ZEUS:  god of the city, Lystra

HERMES:  the Roman god for Mercury

ARTEMUS:  the Roman name for the Greek goddess, Diana

CASTOR and POLLUX:  Zeus's two sons, guarding deities of sailors
Child sacrifices to Molech burned alive.
                 

   "That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace, in his kindness toward us, through Christ Jesus.  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and not of yourselves:  it is the gift of God:"  (Ephesians 2: 7-8)
