WORDS WITHOUT PICTURES

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  (Hebrews 11: 1)

The Bible has no pictures, yet the Bible is believed by more people than any book ever written.
There are no pictures of Christ, yet Christ is believed by more people than any person in the history of the world.
Faith is not religion, and religion is not faith.
God is not religion, and religion is not God.
People, therefore, can have their faith in God, or they can have their faith in religion; but they cannot have their faith in both.  Trying to mix God with religion is like trying to mix oil with water.
Is it truthful to say that many people will only believe in the things that they can see with their eyes, or touch with their hands, for they will not believe in things invisible?  Their faith, then, is in the things they can see, such as things on television, or things inside buildings, such as idols and images.
Evil is also invisible, and the evidence is in the evil deeds that people do.
Though evil is invisible, people will not deny its existence.
But to believe in God, who is invisible, is not easy for people to believe.  And though we have a written record of God in the Bible, would more people believe if the Bible had His picture?
No!  For then they would worship His image, and God would be no more than an idol.
Pagans require images and idols, things they can see with their eyes, or touch with their hands; but God requires faith:  the faith to believe in Him though we do not see Him with our eyes, nor can we touch Him with our hands.
If the Bible is to be believed, it must be believed by faith.
If Christ is to be believed, He must be believed by faith.
God abides in heaven, not in a building made with human hands.  Religion, therefore, cannot contain nor control Almighty God.
Salvation is of Christ, and religion cannot dispense salvation to people in small doses.
The Bible is a book of faith and not a storybook with pictures.
The Bible is a book of words and the words have no pictures.
The words of the Bible are living words, for they are of God and they will never disappear.  His words are better understood when read in the present tense.  Read the Word of God and you will also hear the voice of God speaking those words to you.
And when God speaks, no pictures are needed.
