Satan is the Serpent God of man's religion, the same serpent that appeared to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden; and there the serpent revealed to them that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil looked so good and wonderful to their eyes that Adam and Eve could not resist.
Therefore, religion is from the mind of Satan and not from the mind of Almighty God; and by the same power of deception that the serpent exercised in the garden of Eden, he exercises also through men in creating a system that looks so good and wonderful to the eyes of people that they cannot resist its fragrance. And by this power of deception, people believe that ministers and priests of religion are holy men, even as ministers of Almighty God!
Consequently, just as Adam and Eve picked from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, people also pick from the tree of religion, even to this very day in the year 2013.
So then, we should be able to see that religion is another version of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Men of religion killed Jesus in Jerusalem because Christ is the enemy of man's religion. They rose up against Christ in defense of religion, or in defense of the god of religion, who is Satan, which is why Jesus called them, children of the devil.
Satan, then, is the Serpent God of man's religion.
Here is the evidence that religion is evil and its ministers and priests are also evil:
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. (2 Corinthians 11: 13-15)
As a result of this power of deception from Satan, the devil deceives the minds of people not to believe that Satan is a real being; and by them not believing that Satan is real, neither will they believe in evil because evil is also hidden from their eyes by Satan's power. People will, however, address the behaviors of people as being either good or bad behaviors, but they will not believe that something as simple as lies is evil, but rather misbehaving, or bad habits.
Until people are saved by the power of the blood of Jesus Christ, they will not believe that Satan is real, nor will they see evil in the behaviors of people---other than misbehaving, bad habits, or by the people in prisons.
The Serpent God is worshipped by the ministers and priests of man's religions---behind closed doors and in secret places---away from public view; and their public religion is simply the store where they work their day jobs and to earn their wages: from the offerings and tithes of the members of their congregations.
The ministers and priests of the Serpent God have the power of witchcraft, and they are casting spells on the minds of the people within their congregations, in religions as well as in false churches, thus bringing people under the mind control of Satan, who blinds their minds from receiving the truth of Christ Jesus the Lord, as well as from receiving the truth from the Word of the Lord, which is the holy Bible---even within Christian religions.
