THE MECHANIC

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8: 28)
Perhaps the easiest way to understand golf is when people come to understand the mechanics of the swing; for the swing is everything about golf and everything about golf is the swing.
As stated previously, if people can stand on their feet and swing their arms, they can play golf---if and only if---they come to understand the mechanics of the swing:  for this is the knowledge of golf!
Therefore, there is no secret to golf, and people do not need to be super athletes, nor be born with the talent to play golf.  All of these are misconceptions, and many people are missing their greatest golf games because of preconceived notions.
In a most elementary way of trying to explain the mechanics of the swing is to say that the golfer and the club must become one unit, working together, in one fluid motion.  The club, the hands, the arms, and the whole body must be engaged TOGETHER and not allow the various parts of the body to operate INDEPENDENTLY from each other.  But if the hands move the club before the arms move, there is a problem.  If the legs move before the hands move the club, there is a problem.  The body and the club must move together, in unison and in harmony, in one fluid motion.
In the golfer's mind, he must be able to VISUALIZE this motion of the whole body and the club working together, in one motion, and then do it.  This will take time and this will take practice to get it right as he comes to understand timing, rhythm, and balance.
In the golfer's mind, he must become a MECHANIC, for the golf swing is MECHANICS IN MOTION.  When this happens, then all things will work together for good for the golfer.  Once the golfer understands MECHANICS IN MOTION, then he will know that which the right thing to do, and, when he hits a ball badly, he will be able to diagnose his situation and fix his swing, for he becomes a mechanic.
A golf pro, however, is a Master Mechanic.  He can help golfers repair their broken swings, which enables them to get back on track, perform better, and enjoy the fruit of their labor.
As people, we are created by God.  Our bodies have moving parts, which are one with the body. The legs and the arms---like golf clubs---are designed to work in unison and in harmony with the body, which means that all things will work together for good with the body as long as the arms and legs do not try to perform independently from the body.  If this happens, we stumble and fall, and items slip through our fingers.
Spiritually, Christ is the Great Mechanic of Heaven.  He can fix our pains.  He can restore our relationship with God, at which time we will become one with God and God will become one with us, just as the golf club becomes one with the body of a golfer.  Or, we can ignore Christ and continue to live our own lives, playing our own game, and never improving our relationship with God because we are ignoring the Great Mechanic and choosing instead to live our lives independently and without God's help.
God, however, is our Creator, and our Creator knows best what is best for us---just as the creator of golf clubs knows that which is best for golfers.  The creator of golf clubs has a purpose for the clubs, and God has a purpose for people.
With Christ, our days will always be par for the course, but in golf we will still have those days when the best we can do is play bogey.
