And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. (Genesis 9: 2)
The most violent creature on earth is human, and the most endangered species on earth is human.
Humans fear humans more than humans fear animals, and animals fear humans more than animals fear animals.
Humans kill their own kind without blinking or blushing.
We like to brag about our ways of law and order. We like to brag about our way of civilization. We like to brag about our educational institutions. We like to brag about our governments and our religions. We like to brag about our way of domesticating animals, taming them, and training them to be our servants as workers in the fields.
Yet for all that we do that we think is so great, the earth remains hostile territory for humans; for we will domesticate our own kind to be slaves and servants as workers in the fields.
Because the earth is hostile territory for humans, we will deploy our own kind to be no more than pack animals on expeditions to conquer more and more territories in the name of civilization, and to build more towns and cities as places to reproduce our own children to be exact duplicates of ourselves in them.
How can people be so heartless? How can people be so cruel?
Not only are we violent, but we are also willing to sacrifice our own children and babies on coals of fire to be burned alive as offerings to the gods of our own invention.
Why in the world did Jesus leave heaven to come to a place like this!
Why?
Christ knew He would not be welcome here.
Christ knew that the hearts of men are evil.
Christ knew that evil men would conspire to kill Him.
Christ knew all of this, and yet He came here anyway.
Would you do that if you were Christ?
Even within the Great Sanhedrin, the religious authority of Israel, there were evil men who thought that killing Jesus would be the perfect solution to their madness; and thus they sought to capture Jesus because they had murder on their minds.
For it was not Rome that was against Jesus. Not at first. But after Pontius Pilate had time to think about the request of the Jews, the more he was inclined to accept the plan.
What, then, is so great about religion when men of religion are willing to kill humans?
Even today, the greatest problem people have with Christ is found in the fact that Jesus did not remain dead. For there are people today that are just as mad as those men who drove the nails in the hands of Jesus two thousand years ago. For there are people today just as religious as those religious men of Israel.
By now, we should be able to see and to understand that religion is the house of violence, for violent behavior is accepted there. For the fires of violence are spreading all over the world today as the world remains hostile territory for humans.
The fields are burning and they will continue to burn until God puts His foot down and ends this violent wave of spiritual madness; for the world will never be any better than it is today; and even life in these United States will never be any better than life is today.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
