If we study human history, we will understand our present world; but if we refuse to study or accept our own history, it is likely that we will believe events of today as something new.
The word "occult" means that which is hidden from sight.
In ancient Babylon at the Tower of Babel, under the leadership of Nimrod and his wicked mother/wife, the people there openly practiced occultic worship in open arenas because they were proud of their deviance of Almighty God.
The 11th chapter of the book of Genesis is of vital importance in understanding human history in order to better understand our present world; for it was there, in ancient Babylon, that Nimrod became the founding father of religion and the rise of Witchcraft; and Nimrod's mother/wife, Semiramis, became the queen of heaven and mother of god.
As the people of Babylon spread across the earth, they took with them this evil religion and continued occultic worship in open arenas wherever they pitched their tents; and people everywhere, in every nation, were pagans because paganism was all they knew: paganism was their knowledge.
In Rome, however, something happened.
Three hundred years after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, the Roman emperor, Constantine the Great, declared Christianity to be the official state religion of the Roman Empire. This was strange. For three hundred years Rome had persecuted, punished, and killed Christians---when suddenly and unexpectedly---Rome embraced Christianity.
In truth, Satan was losing souls to Christ; therefore Satan, being the god of deception, influenced his messengers to develop a new plan of war: instead of fighting Christians, join them. Create a merger of Christian beliefs with paganism and call it the Church of Rome, enforced by Church law by priests. While appearing to be priests of God, they were---in reality---priests of Satan, and they gave Rome a facelift: and people were deceived to believe in a system because it appeared to be new, not knowing that they were believing in a system that was from ancient Babylon.
As a result of the power of deception, the Pontiff of Rome became the most powerful person on the earth as Rome established a religious dictatorship that would endure across centuries while amassing great wealth and influencing governments of nations to bow in his presence and kiss his ring.
Why, then, should we study history? Because there is no new thing under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1: 9) That which has happened before will surely happen again.
Even now, in 2013, millions of people upon the earth are believing in the religious system of ancient Babylon, revived in Rome, as if their beliefs are something new and to be desired. Which means that people today are deceived by the same system that deceived people in Babylon.
Satan appeals to educated and uneducated minds that lack and resist the knowledge of God, that resist the knowledge of Christ, and that resist the historical evidence of Bible history.
The names of false churches and religions are not as important as in knowing that all of them---collectively or individually---are members of the same occultic family. All of them are against God, against Christ, and against the Holy Bible. And not one of them will admit that Jesus Christ is Lord, nor that Jesus Christ will return to earth, for they are fakes and forgeries: created and designed to lead people away from God, not toward Him. Together, they are a deadly deception: leading people to eternal death and not to eternal life.
As for Babylon, which is also Rome, by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. (Revelation 18: 23)
