"And the LORD God formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Genesis 2: 7)
It is interesting to note that God created man, and man, in his rebellion against God, created gods.
If man had the power, moreover, he would surely breathe into the nostrils of his idols and they would become living creatures.
Even so, because of the power of deception, man believes that his idols are, in fact, living gods: for he worships them, bows down to them, and prays to them while believing that his gods hear his pleas and answer his requests; and though man's gods are created out of his own imagination, he believes they are real, as he also believes that the images of his gods, when painted as portraits on canvas, or when transformed from photographic film to pictures, printed on paper, can also hear his prayers and answer his pleas: or simply to kneel to them in his submission to them, as if they are living.
Man has also given names to all of his idols, including their powers and characteristics, written in their minds as well as written on paper, as he teaches his children to believe likewise, thereby reproducing generations of idol worshippers while rejecting the one and only living God of Heaven, who created man in the first place!
As a result of man's idolatry, he places images of his gods throughout his own environment: in homes, on shelves, on the floor, on desks in offices, on the ground in front of homes, in temples and in shrines, and even to stick them on dashboards of cars, or dangle them from the rearview mirrors, so he can take his gods with him whithersoever he goes: to assure himself that he will never leave home without them as well as to gain in confidence by believing that his gods will never forsake him!
Worse than this, man without God will also offer his own babies as human sacrifices to his gods and watch their little bodies burn on coals of fire: as man, without God, becomes no more than a brute beast of the field.

Human sacrifices at the altar of Molech |
As humans, what have we done upon the earth? Or what have we done with the time the Lord God of Heaven has given us to live upon the earth? Are we not better than animals? For even animals do not sacrifice their babies on coals of fire to gods that do not exist!
"For there is one God , and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1st Timothy 2: 5)
