A FALLING AWAY

   Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.  Let no man deceive you by any means:  for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.  (II Thessalonians 2: 1-4)

   The return of Jesus Christ will be proceeded by two events:
      1.  a falling away from Christ;
      2.  the appearance of Antichrist.

   First, Christian churches across America have been falling like dominos because of the false doctrines by false prophets within Christian churches.  More churches will yet fall because of the continuance of false doctrines by false prophets within Christian churches.  For this is the purpose of false prophets:  to teach lies that sound like truth.
   Secondly, many churches have not fallen because of the infiltration of false prophets, but because many of the ministers and teachers were likely never saved according to God's plan of salvation as it is written in the Word of God.
   Either way, churches have fallen because:
   Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; (I Timothy 4: 1-2)
   For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.  (II Timothy 4: 3-4)
   There was a time when the Holy Bible was the only textbook of Christians.  People took their Bibles to church and studied the Word of God, and all preaching was also from the Word of God.  But for one reason or another, ministers in churches began to teach from other books from the writings of men.  In time, the Word of God was neglected to the degree that people stopped taking their Bibles to church and thereby they came to rely on the "man of God" to tell them everything they needed to know:  and they believed every word that the "man of God" spoke from the pulpit.
   There was once a time, too, when people kept the family Bible in a prominent place in the home, such as on the coffee table in the living room or den.  In time, however, family Bibles in homes disappeared.
   As such, people in Christian churches began to believe in the doctrine of devils.  Christians stopped believing that Christ is the only way to Heaven as they began to accept the human philosophy that there are many ways to get to Heaven, and that the Holy Bible is not the only source for truth from God.  As a result, people stopped getting saved in churches, and, immorality increased in families as well as in the membership of churches:  behaviours that were once considered to be sinful began to be accepted as normal
   And churches became Community Social Centers where people would socialize with coffee and doughnuts, sing a little bit, pray a little bit, and have a little sweet message, from which they would return to their homes and live as they wanted to live.  At which time they came to believe that all people are brothers and sisters, no matter if they believe in God or not, and that all people will go to Heaven, no matter which way they get there.  In their own minds, they evicted Christ from their churches as well as from their personal lives; however, they kept Christmas and Easter because these are traditional holidays, but not holy days.
   This is the falling away first from Christ.  And when Antichrist appears they will accept him because their hearts are of the spirit of antichrist because they are against Christ even now.  Because they neglected the Word of God, they will not know the difference between the real Christ and a false Christ.
   Two self-examination questions are these:
   Is your faith in Christ and Christ alone, or is your faith in your Christian church or Christian religion?  If not in Christ, then you will go the way of your church or religion, and you will be part of the falling away.
   Is your faith in the words of the Holy Bible, or is your faith in doctrines written by men?  If not in the Bible, then you will agree with any or all doctrines from the minds of the imaginations of people, and you will be part of the falling away.
   Amen.
