"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." (1st Corinthians 13: 11)
Religion is a childish thing because religion is the place for children of all ages.
Religion does not want children to grow up, to become adults, to think for themselves, nor to make decisions for themselves because religion wants children to remain children all the days of their lives.
Religion wants children to remain obedient to ministers and priests, obedient to the laws, rules, and regulations, as well as obedient to the rites and rituals.
Religion wants children to do as they are told to do and to live as they are told to live.
Religion wants children to sit on the pews, open their mouths and say "Ahhh" and be fed by the ministers and priests. They are not to feed themselves.
Religion wants children to get in line, to receive their reward for being obedient, such as a piece of bread and a sip of juice, then to run along home and be good boys and girls.
Religion then wants the children to return to the building, to take their place on the pews, and to once again open their mouths, say "Ahhh" and be fed again by their ministers and priests.
Religion does not want children to become ministers of Christ, or ministers of the Gospel of Christ, but to become ministers of religion: but to speak for the religion because, to them, the religion is above Christ and thereby the ultimate authority in their lives.
Religion wants children to remain obedient to the religion and not to Christ.
Religion does not want its children to read the Bible, but to remain obedient to their books written by men.
When people come to Christ, however, something happens: they become adults. They stop living and acting like children. They begin to think for themselves. They begin to make their own decisions. Christ allows us to do this because the Lord is not a dictator. The Lord is our Great Shepherd. Where He leads us we will follow, whereas religion drives people like cattle to the slaughter.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things pass away; behold, all things are become new." (2nd Corinthians 5: 17)
Obviously, if you want old things to pass away and all things to become new, give Christ a chance!
