WHAT HAPPENED, AMERICA?

   Whatever happened to the good ol' days?
   There was a time in the United States when people were honest with themselves, honest with their neighbors, and honest in keeping scores of sporting events.
   There was a time in the United States when children obeyed their parents, when children obeyed their teachers at school, and when children respected their elders, teachers, police officers, and ministers.
   There was a time in the United States when men would not speak words of profanity in the presence of women, children, elders, policemen and ministers.
   There was a time in the United States when people rarely, if ever, profaned the name of God in public places, or would curse the name of Christ.
   There was a time in the United States when people did not work on Sundays, and there were also  people who did not go to church, but they would not even mow their grass on Sundays.
   There was a time in the United States when businesses closed on Sundays and when pharmacies were open briefly, but only for emergency prescriptions.
   There was a time in the United States when the America flag did not remain on the pole during rain or over night in darkness.
   There was a time in the United States when children cared for their parents and grandparents until their deaths instead of taking them to assisted living facilities for them to live in loneliness and to die alone.
   There was a time in the United States when gentlemen stood when ladies entered a room, or when men tipped their hats to ladies in public places.
   There was a time when the United States was a shining light in a world of darkness and people from around the world yearned to come to the light to be free.
   There was a time in the United States when we had a government by the people, and now the government has become a god and people are submissive to the god of government.
   There was a time in the United States when people would not dare speak against the Holy Bible---even people who never read it.
   Whatever happened to the United States?  What went wrong?
   What would our forefathers and foremothers think of the United States today if they could come back from the grave?
   Would they ask:  Where is God?  Where is Christ?  Where is the Holy Bible?  And what happened to all that we gave you?
