IN THE EYES OF GOD

Golf is a revelation of the character of people.
If you want to know the character of  people, play golf with them and you will know them---in ways that may surprise you.
If people are obedient in their private lives, so will they be on a golf course.  For this is their character.
If people are honest in they private lives, they he will be as honest as possible on a golf course and will seek to do the right thing.   But if people are defiant about the rules of home, rules of work, rules of life, and rules of golf, they will be just as defiant on a golf course.  For this is their character.
If people are domineering and controlling in their private lives, they will be just as domineering and controlling on a golf course.  For this is their character.
If people are caring, sharing, and good sports in their private lives, they will be just as caring, and sharing, and good sports on a golf course.  For this is their character.
If people are proud, stubborn, and deviant in their private lives, they will be just as proud, stubborn, and deviant on a golf course.  For this is their character.
If people make friends easily in their private lives, they will make friends easily in golf.  For this is their character.  But if people do not have many friends in their private lives, they will not have many friends in golf.  For this is their character.
Golf is played in an open arena, in the light of day, and not in darkness.  There is no place to hide, not even among the blades of grass.  People will see everything you do.  They will read you like a book because your book is revealing your character to them:  page by page and word for word, all of your actions and reactions, your attitude, your emotions, and also the words you speak---hole by hole and stroke by stroke.
Do you believe you have your anger under control?  Play golf and you will discover the truth about your anger, as well as perhaps your jealousy and envy.
Out on the golf course, others will come to know the real you.  You may be able to fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.
Only you can change your character.  And if your character never changes, you will continue to be the same as you are, no matter where you go, and no matter what you do.
Under heaven, God sees you as you really are:  out in the open arena of life, in the light of day, in your private world when you are alone, and also the world in which you live under the cover of darkness.  God knows your character.  He knows your honesty or dishonesty, your obedience or defiance, every secret thing, and even your hypocrisy.
Golf will reveal your character faster than any other sport, but God will reveal your sin:
and be sure your sin will find you out.  (Numbers 32: 23)
How do you stand in the eyes of fellow golfers?
More importantly, how do you stand in the eyes of God?
